Flying the A-6 Intruder, the squadron participated in significant operations such as the Mayaguez incident, Operation Praying Mantis, Operation Classic Resolve, including combat missions during Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. The Green Lizards also deployed aboard various aircraft carriers in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, supporting U.S. interests around the globe.
